Just Wondering...
Updates from the desk of Stephanie Phillips, including publication news and upcoming projects.
Happy Friday, all!
After New York Comic Con last week, I feel like I am just now starting to return to a bit of normalcy. The convention was great and I can’t thank ReedPOP enough for creating a safe environment for these kinds of events to return. It was so great to see everyone and talk comics, and I’m already excited for C2E2 in December (hope to see even more of you there!).
Along with panels and signings, I’ve got a few new things in the works after NYCC that I can’t wait to dive into… I may already have jumped on at least one secret thing with a collaborator that I’ve been dying to work with since the day I first set foot in this industry. We’ve set things in motion for what I think will be something really, really special. More on this much later, unfortunately! #tease
So, things I CAN talk about - WONDER WOMAN: EVOLUTION is up for final order cutoff next week, Oct. 24. This project has been one of the greatest creative and collaborative experiences of my career and I can’t say enough good things about this team. Mike Hawthorne, Adriano Di Benedetto, Jordie Bellaire and Tom Napolitano have created something truly stunning and I can’t wait for the world to see this. I’m incredibly grateful to be working with this team. Just look at these Jordie Bellaire colors… I’m in AWE!
This story is a really personal story for me. Not only do I love Wonder Woman, but I wanted to use this book as a way to explore her character (past and present) and how that might influence the role of superheroes in the future. While Wonder Woman is standing trial for all of humanity, facing different trials to prove the worth of planet Earth, she’s also being tested on an individual level.
Go order this book! We are really putting everything we’ve got into it.
FINAL ORDER CUTOFF OCT. 24
NUCLEAR FAMILY
At NYCC we announced the return of Nuclear Family from AfterShock Comics. Tony and I will be back for a second volume that picks up where volume 1 ended. We’ll answer some pressing questions about the mysteries of volume 1… but probably create a lot more (sorry not sorry). I absolutely adore working with Tony and we’ve been planning this upcoming arc for a little while now. Really excited that we get to revisit the McCleans in 2022!
And if you missed out on volume 1, the trade paperback will be in stores this coming Wednesday, Oct. 20.
JANUARY 2022 SOLICITS
I am NOT emotionally prepared to say 2022… but here we are. Some great covers coming up in January even if I am also having a crisis over how quickly 2021 is passing us.
Harley Quinn #11 will start a two-part story called “Keepsake’s Revenge.” This arc will begin to wrap things up with our pal Keepsake and introduce a dangerous new player to Harley’s world. Covers by Riley Rossmo, Derrick Chew, and Acky Bright!
Wonder Woman: Evolution #3 finds Diana stranded on an unknown planet and struggling to determine what is real or not, and whether her actions impact reality. Silver Swan returns and a cosmic battle begins. Don’t miss it!
Covers by Mike Hawthorne and Jordie Bellaire, and Juliet Nneka.
Thank you all so much for continuing to read and support my work. I’m excited to continue sharing these stories with you and NYCC has be buzzing about future projects.
Enjoy your weekends!
