[Insert nautical pun here] ENDEAVOUR, a new book from myself and Marc Laming was just announced yesterday! And, if you can’t tell, there’s a boat in it. The story is about seven children stuck at sea on a recreation of Lieutenant James Cook’s sailing ship, the Endeavour. From 1768 to 1771 the HMS Endeavour sailed on a voyage of discovery around Tahiti, New Zealand, and Australia. Now, a modern-day tourism company is offering a “luxury” touring experience aboard a near-accurate recreation of the Endeavour (with slightly more comfortable accommodations, of course).
When things go horribly wrong and the children end up stranded at sea on board the ship, they must figure out a way to survive and, potentially, make it back to land in one piece. As they will discover, the most dangerous thing the will have to face is each other…
For fans of LORD OF THE FLIES or YELLOWJACKETS, Endeavour offers a confined horror story where tensions rise until any modicum of social structure is completely dismantled, obsolete, and forgotten.
I love survivalist stories and I love confined horror stories that seek to deconstruct socio-political structures. Is that a mouthful? Sorry… This book has been something I’ve been working towards for years, and DSTLRY has been a perfect home for its maiden voyage. I also couldn’t be more excited to bring it to life with Marc Laming, Lee Loughridge, Tom Napoliatano, and Will Dennis. Once again, I end up as the luckiest creator to have such great collaborators.
And the variant covers… we’ve got Matteo Scalera and Matías Bergara variants, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg (sorry, I’ll stop. Maybe).
